I used Loctite Blue on some rail screws for my Rem 700, and when I wanted to remove them to cerakoted the receiver, I had to heat the barrel with a torch to loosen them. Since then I went to the lowest strength Loctite purple 242. Quote. WebDec 21, 2011 · I always wanted a Remington 700, so I bought a LH model built in 83. It's a BDL, so it has open sights. I could use the sights on it, but the rear sight is fuzzy. I'll do better with a peep. I have one on my Win 94, and it helps a lot. I'm going to go with the WGRS, and maybe a FO front sight. Not sure about that though.

The screws and holes need to be shallow enough so that they don’t penetrate the bore, yet long enough to get a few threads into the metal to attach the scope.
